Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
